David Hohn founded a duck-call company, Duck Hollers, that continues a tradition of duck-call production in his family. His father, Blount Hohn, started making duck calls more than 50 years ago and shared his insights on his craft with his son. Hohn duck calls are a family tradition going back nearly 50 years.  Growing up on a rice farm in Northeast Arkansas not far from where the Black and White Rivers come together duck hunting and duck calls were a way of life.  David's dad was an avid outdoorsman and taught him at an early age how to work a group of mallards down to within shooting range.  He mentored not just David but an entire generation of kids in their small town in the art of duck calling.  In the back room of his general store in the 1970's David's father started his own brand of duck calls known as Hohn's Choice and continued making calls and sharing his knowledge until he passed away in 1992.

David started turning calls in 1986 and eventually turned it into the company known as Duck Hollers, but since an early age he was interested in duck calling competitions.  This was another way to participate in the sport year round after the hunting season had ended.  Along the way David was fortunate to win a few notable titles including the national high school contest, a regional hunt style competition, the Alabama State Championship, and semi-finalist in the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Ark.  A number of other state titles and World competitions have also been accomplished by other competitors using Duck Holler calls.   With two sons already learning the trade David believes the family tradition will continue for a long time to come.

After retiring from competition in the '90's he continued to be involved in the sport by organizing the Alabama state championship for a number of years, bringing youth competitions back to the Alabama stage, and David continue to judge regularly at the World Championship in Stuttgart.  In 2006, Duck Hollers partnered with Hooters restaurant to bring a convention size sportsman's expo back to North Alabama, and in 2007 we partnered with the Huntsville Sports Commission and Super Retriever Series for a weekend event of water dogs and duck calling competitions that continues as an annual event to this day.

Although duck calls have always been the mainstay of the business David Hohn, an American Inventor, he strives to develop new and innovative products and brands.  The umbrella with the decorative duck call shaped handle and the Duck for Cover™ brand is one such combination.

North Georgia Trading Company is the exclusive distributor for the Duck for Cover™ Sports Umbrella.
